Product Compliance:

Our OWL2c data logger contains a real time clock that is used to stamp the time and date on log files. The underlying integrated circut chip returns only the last two digits of the year, but it does treat the year 2000 correctly as a leap year. The OWL2c firmware provides the complete four digit date, from 1999 to 2098. The complete date and time stamp appears on every line of data in the log file. Users who program the OWL2c on their own are free to use their own common sense in the creation of date tags in files. No loss of OWL2C operation in the field will result from Y2K.

No other current product from EME Systems contains a real time clock. This includes, but is not limited to, our line of sensors and sensor signal conditioners:

Our old OWL1 was based on the Tandy Model 100 and Model 102 computers. These computers did not do not roll over correctly to the year 2000, although the software provided by EME Systems corrected for the deficiency of the model T. There should be no break in operations due to the transition to the year 2000. We suggest upgrading to the OWL2c.

Suppliers:

We have taken care to assure a continued supply of parts used in our products. We have employed conservative design that does not rely on single distributors or a single source for critical parts. Our favorite parts are "multiple source" distributed, and we have laid in enough inventory to meet demands for several months. Our major suppliers have all posted Y2K compliance statements on their web sites.

Business operations:

All business and financial records are stored on Y2K compliant Macintosh G3 computers , and all records and documentation is mirrored in at least two widely separated sites.

There are many unforeseen things that can happen in the course of business. The Y2K problem ranks in our view on the same level as the transition of telephone area codes or the transition to daylight savings time, or the conversion to the Euro, but considerably less worrisome than the possible disruption of a major earthquake. We excersise a high level of prudence to meet these eventualities.
