Irrometer® Tensiometers

EME Systems offers four lengths of tensiometers from Irrometer® Company. Tensiometers measure soil wetness indirectly through the suction or pressure on the specialized tip of the irrometer. The amount of suction or pressure is then converted into a 4-20 milliamp current loop. The tensiometers from Irrometer Company come in a variety of lengths. The standard lengths are 6", 12", 18", 24", 36", and 48"; other lengths may be special ordered. Different types of tips can be ordered for diverse soil conditions. The blue tips pictured below, for instance, are specialized for very low water-capacity soils such as sand.
